Men's Club Lifeline Personal Emergency Response System

Providing Sun City Center Residents with America's Best Alert System

For nearly three decades, the Men's Club has been the exclusive provider of Lifeline Emergency Response Systems in the Sun City Community. However, unlike the off-the-shelf competitors, the Men's Club Lifeline comes with something extra: free installation, free training, and free service calls by our many highly trained volunteers.

Lifeline is a personal emergency response system that helps allow someone to live alone and have ready access to first responders who can help them. (Responders can be either the SCC Emergency Squad, the Hillsborough County Fire or Sheriff, or even a relative or neighbor.) Annually, we have more than 500 instances of calls for help, many of which result in transport to the hospital.

Lifeline is the largest and most involved of the Mens Club many community services; we have been offering this service for more than 20 years. Because the Men's Club is a not-for-profit organization and has a large number of volunteers, we are able to provide this service at a significantly reduced fee which benefits our community.

The Men's Club teamed with the leading company in this field, the Philips Corporation, to provide the most advanced and reliable equipment and most importantly, the highest-trained response center in the country. Subscribers wear a button that, when activated, puts them in contact with a Response Associate who will stay on the line until the response person or team is there.

The Men's Club offers 3 different systems:

• Our standard system is a button that the wearer pushes if assistance is needed.
  • The fall detection system will alert the response center if you fall and are unable to push the button.
  • The third system is a GPS-based button that will work anywhere in the US if there is AT&T cell service in the area.

Trained Men's Club volunteers complete all installations and service calls, at no charge to the subscriber. We maintain an office, staffed from 9 to 4:30 on weekdays, for coordination of installations, service calls, inventory management, etc. During the time when the office is closed, we use an answering service and have installers on call to service equipment if needed.

In addition to the many man-hours, our Club has invested over $1,000,000 in securing this communication equipment. With its financial backing and volunteer work, the Club has been very instrumental in helping to save lives and bring “peace of mind” to several thousand of our citizens and their families.
